ADSTOCK at Columbia
Every year, Columbia College’s marketing communications department hosts ADSTOCK, a career forum and networking opportunity open to the public. In the past, I admit, it has been a bit tacky and overrated. But I still encourage you to go. I always enjoy the presentations and end up learning something important in the end. Even if it’s just a nugget or two.
The event is produced by Columbia’s marketing students, and the Columbia College Marketing Association. At ADSTOCK, you can come hang-out, eat a free lunch, and be inspired by guest speakers from local companies. Also, you can bring a current portfolio you have, or might be working on to receive feedback from current professionals.
I’ve attended ADSTOCK for the past two years. It’s a great place to have lunch with friends and stay for the panel discussion, or guest keynote speaker. It doesn’t matter if you are a marketing student or not. The event is one of Columbia’s great end-of-the-year parties. It’s on Thursday, May 3rd. It will be at 1104 S Wabash from 9am -2pm. You can come anytime, but it’s better to come around lunch time for some free grub!
