Enjoy an Evening at Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap
There’s gotta be somewhere better to go to check out the Cubs/Sox/Bears/Bulls/Blackhawks/Whatever game in the Gold Coast than Friday’s or ESPN Zone right? Yes ladies and gentleman, there is.
This magical place is Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap. Located at Superior and Wabash, just steps from the Chicago stop on the Red Line, Melnick’s is a great place to go for a game or just for a relaxed night out with some friends.
Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap is a full restaraunt and sports bar, with flat screens and Direct TV boxes everywhere. The food is pretty good, especially if you’re in the mood for burgers or a salad, and the menu is always changing with new specialties. The flatbreads, which are basically very thin pizzas, are a very tasty and unique treat. The Buffalo Wings, which come in three flavors are also excellentl; make sure to try “Pancho’s Wings.” The only thing to stay away from? Surprisingly, no one seems to be satisfied with their ribs which is surprising for a barbecue type joint. As far as washing down that food goes, they are equipped with all kinds of beers/wines/liquors but are especially proud of their wide selection of draft beers including Guinness, Bass, Harp, 312, Honkers, Sam Adams Seasonal, Goose Island Seasonal, Miller Lite, Blue Moon, and Smithwick’s. If Beer isn’t your drink of choice, the Jaketini and the other specialty martinis seem to be popular and tasty. Jake’s crowd is diverse ;from young kids in jeans and t-shirts to older businessmen to sports fanatics, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun. Another plus with the summer approaching is the large outdoor patio section which allows you to take in the warm Chicago air while it’s here. Melnick’s is open until 2Am on weekends, so go check it out, root for your favorite team and bite into some flatbread.
